Position Purpose

The Director of Agency Services and Resource Development Support is a dual role – providing direct support to a portfolio of agencies and leading the growth of successful resource development strategies across the entire BBBS network of agencies.

As a direct report of the Vice President, Agency Service, and member of the Big Brothers Big Sisters of America (BBBSA) Agency Support team, the Director holds primary and collaborative responsibility for supporting, coaching, and guiding a designated portfolio of Big Brothers Big Sisters (BBBS) agencies. The Director will operate as the first point of contact for their portfolio of agencies to accelerate growth and align with network-wide initiatives across key indicators within people development, capacity building, revenue, media, youth, and volunteers served.

The Director, Agency Services will also serve as a Resource Development subject matter expert collaborating closely with the Chief Development Officer and team to develop and implement scalable strategies to advance the growth goals of local agencies. Responsibilities will include supporting the development of turnkey, customizable resources for local implementation of resource development strategies to develop a culture of philanthropy, optimize collaborative fundraising, support local agency growth by lifting best practices, resources, etc., Convene agencies for learning, sharing, growth opportunities

Location: United States (Remote)

Travel: Approximately 60%

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

1:1 Agency Support

  • Deliver a range of consultative services and capacity building supports to help assigned agencies achieve their goals for growth, including supports related to volunteer experience, strategic planning, resource development, program implementation, technology, and advancement of mentorship services.
  • Promote targeted BBBSA services and peer-to-peer mentoring/sharing to generate greater adoption of “models that work” across the network and generate stronger measures of reach (youth served), relevancy (market penetration), revenue (fundraising) and resource (thriving organizations).
  • Provide responsive customer service to requests for support, displaying empathy, adaptability, and accountability to address the evolving needs and priorities among agency leaders.
  • Other duties as assigned by the Vice President, Agency Services, Chief Agency Growth Officer and/or President and Chief Executive Officer.

Resource Development Subject Matter Expert

  • Identify and address network trends in agency resource development needs through collaboration with the BBBSA Resource Development team to develop scalable solutions, including development of strategies, tools, and implementation support. This includes support in lifting network best practices, successes, and scalable opportunities for agency fundraising.
  • Grow agency-level development expertise and capacity through peer-to-peer sharing, agency mentoring, skill-building workshops and other BBBSA supports in collaboration with BBBSA Resource Development, National & Regional Conference and Learning & Development teams.
  • Represent the agency perspective in the BBBSA prioritization and development of organizational revenue strategies, campaigns (It take Little to be Big), initiatives (120th Anniversary) and efforts work as a part-time member of the BBBSA Resource Development team and serve as a liaison to the NLC Partnership & Resource Development Committee.

Education & Related Work Experience

  • Education Level: Bachelor’s degree or equivalent education or professional experience
  • Years of Related Work Experience: A minimum of five (5) years in a relevant executive-level position required, preferably in a nonprofit federated or similar affiliated model; experience leading organizational growth and impact in new or existing markets
  • Experience developing partnerships and raising funds for and/or in collaboration with local or national nonprofits organizations.

Skills and Knowledge: Advanced interpersonal skills; Service-oriented mindset with excellent client relations, written and verbal communications; Ability to deliver relevant expertise and resources while building trust and rapport in a consultative, coaching relationship of direct or indirect influence; Demonstrated ability to handle multiple projects, timelines and budgets within fast-paced environment while maintaining a commitment to high quality, detail-oriented work; Ability to work independently in achieving results consistently on deadline; Excellent team working skills; ability to collaborate across teams; Ability to manage through complex issues with various stakeholders to desired outcome; Planning, analytical, organizational, and time management skills; Desire and ability to work well with individuals with diverse backgrounds and personalities displaying respect, maturity, and flexibility; Familiarity with Salesforce CRM.
